On November 17, 2022, the Conference «Volunteering: Experience and Prospects» took place at the OSMU Main Building, timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the Faculty of Dentistry and the 9th anniversary of the «Smile» Volunteering Movement. The event gathered representatives of Omsk Universities, specialists in medicine and business from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Sochi.
In a welcoming speech, Ivan G. SHTEINBORM, OSMU First Vice-Rector, paid special attention to the importance of volunteering in shaping a doctor's personality. Larisa M. LOMIASHVILI, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, supported the volunteers in their good deeds and endeavors.
Alexander V. ZAKHAROV, Head of the «OmDent» dental clinic network, shared his experience of extracurricular activities in the University, noting its role in shaping an outlook.
Iolanta N. DIAKOVA, Head of the «Altair» Inclusive Culture Volunteering Movement, Teacher at Omsk State Pedagogical University, told about the specifics of medical care considering patients with communication difficulties. In her report, she suggested algorithms and options for effective communication with such patients.
Participants heard kind words of congratulations and plenty of helpful information during an online-call with Alexander BEZUGLOV, pediatric dentist, founder of the «Smile» Volunteering Movement. He told about how student activity helped him in his studies and career in Russia and abroad.
Maria PETRIKOVA, Project Manager for Autism Spectrum Patients in Yekaterinburg, discussed management strategies of children with special needs, focusing on possible mistakes and practical pieces of advice.
Denis KNELTS, business coach (Moscow), presented his report «Volunteering is an Investment in Yourself» and talked about subtle nuances of communication.
